Note: a notepad that never loses a word
A notes app for the browser and the phone that saves as you type, works offline and syncs between PC and Android without losing an edit from either side. It feels like Notepad++, takes Norwegian dictation on our own server, and lets Claude read and write notes through MCP. Built and run by Agentas for our own use.

What it does
Never loses text
Every note is a shared document that merges edits from two devices, even when one of them was offline. Offline edits sync with the app closed, and with the notes on the device it opens in about 1.5 seconds even if the server never answers.
The feel of Notepad++
Multiple carets, column select with Alt and drag, bracket matching, a command palette on Alt+S, word wrap on Alt+Z, sections you can drag and nest, lists that renumber themselves and checklists. Markdown preview and code highlighting load only for the notes that use them.
Norwegian dictation on our own server
Speech is typed by NB-Whisper on our own hardware: 30 seconds of speech in about 3.6 seconds. The model loads only while someone dictates, and a recording made offline is typed when the connection is back.
Claude reads and writes notes
An MCP server gives Claude Code seven tools to list, read, create and edit notes and to save files into them. Edits are small and kept in the history, and a replace is refused if the note changed after Claude read it.
Sharing on your terms
Share a note with a person who can edit it or only view it, or make a public read-only link, open or with a password. Version history and a trash bring back what was lost.
From phone to PC in seconds
The Android share sheet sends links and text into the Inbox, pasting from Word keeps headings, lists, tables and pictures, and files up to 50 MB can be dropped onto a note.

Note is a private tool we use every day, and we build apps like it for businesses. It covers these needs.
- A self-hosted notes app with an Android app: notes sync between the browser on the PC and an installed app on the phone, and they live on your own server.
- An offline notes app for Windows and Android that never loses an edit: two devices can change the same note, one of them offline, and both edits are kept.
- A Notepad++ alternative in the browser: multiple carets, column select, a command palette and code highlighting, with sync on top.
- Notes that Claude can work with: an MCP server lets Claude Code read and write notes with small edits that stay in the history.

How it works
- 01
Type
Every keystroke is saved on the device first.
- 02
Sync
Changes travel as small updates over a WebSocket and merge on every device.
- 03
Store
The server keeps each note and its history in SQLite.
- 04
Use
Open it on the PC, on the phone or through Claude.
How it's built
Note is TypeScript with no UI framework, built with Vite. The editor is CodeMirror 6, each note is a Yjs document synced through a Hocuspocus server, and the server keeps notes, history and sharing in SQLite. The first visit downloads about 160 KB of compressed JavaScript against a budget of 200 KB, and a repeat visit on the PC opens from the device with nothing downloaded.
Sharing rules are enforced on the server, not only in the interface, and sign-in uses passkeys with a code from an authenticator app as the fallback. A full security review in October 2026 was fixed point by point, and the test gate holds about 100 unit tests and 75 browser tests.
Engineering highlights
- Opens in about 1.5 s from the device, even with no server
- About 160 KB of JavaScript on the first visit, under a 200 KB budget
- Seven MCP tools for Claude Code, with every edit in the history
- Norwegian dictation on our own server: 30 s of speech in about 3.6 s
- Sharing enforced on the server, sign-in with passkeys
Questions
Can I sign up for Note?
No. Note is a private tool, and only invited people have access. We build apps like it for businesses, on their servers or ours.
Does Note work without an internet connection?
Yes. The notes are kept on the device, so Note opens and saves with no connection, and the changes sync when the device is back online, even with the app closed.
How does Claude work with Note?
Through an MCP server with seven tools: Claude Code can list, read, create and edit notes and save files into them, with an access token made in Note's own settings.
